The Mobile Museums of Tolerance are an inititive of the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, California, a world renowned museum that challenges visitors to confront bigotry, antisemitism, and hate, and understand the Holocaust in both historic and contemporary contexts.
Since the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles’s opening in 1993, it has hosted over 8 million visitors with more than 3.5 million students and 200,000 adults who have participated in the museum experience and its programs. The first Mobile Museum of Tolerance launched in February 2021 in Chicago, as the first of an ever growing fleet across the country.
The Mobile Museums of Tolerance are free, self-contained museums on wheels which provide interactive lesson plans that help young people of all backgrounds combat hate by engaging with historical events from the Holocaust to the Civil Rights movement. Each Mobile Museum of Tolerance contains multiple educational modules guided by trained educators who use an interactive approach to teach the lessons of history as a means of teaching greater empathy and tolerance.
